For the Apple Filling:

3 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled and diced

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 tablespoon lemon juice

For the Cream Cheese Layer:

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 large egg

For the Bread:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup buttermilk

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Topping:

1/2 cup rolled oats

1/3 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

Prepare the Apple Filling:

    - In a medium bowl, combine diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Toss until apples are well coated. Set aside to marinate while preparing other components.

      Make the Cream Cheese Layer:

        - In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add the egg and mix until just combined. Set aside.

          Preheat the Oven:

            - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

              Prepare the Bread Batter:

                - In another large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

                  - In a separate bowl, combine melted butter, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix well.

                    - Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just incorporated (do not overmix).

                      Assemble the Bread:

                        - Pour half of the bread batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it evenly.

                          - Layer half of the apple filling over the batter, followed by half of the cream cheese layer. Repeat with the remaining batter, apples, and cream cheese filling.

                            Make the Topping:

                              - In a small bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter together until crumbly.

                                - Sprinkle the topping evenly over the unbaked bread.

                                  Bake:

                                    - Bake in the preheated oven for about 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top is browning too quickly, cover it loosely with aluminum foil for the last 15 minutes.

                                      Cool & Serve:

                                        - Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and serve as is or with a dollop of whipped cream!
