Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion finely diced
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup dill pickles sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • a pinch salt

Instructions

  • Make the Special Sauce by whisking together mayonnaise, ketchup, sweet pickle relish, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt until smooth. Refrigerate.
  • Cook the ground beef and diced onion in a skillet over medium heat until browned and onion is translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  • Add ketchup, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt and pepper to the beef. Stir and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Toast the hamburger buns in a separate skillet or under the broiler until golden brown.
  • Assemble the Sloppy Joes by placing the beef mixture on the bottom half of each bun.
  • Top with shredded lettuce, pickles, and shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Drizzle the special sauce over the toppings and cap with the top half of the bun.
  • Serve warm with sides like fries or salad.
