Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (80/20 for the best flavor)

1 cup pimento cheese (store-bought or homemade)

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper, to taste

4 hamburger buns

4 lettuce leaves (such as romaine or butter lettuce)

1 large tomato, sliced

Pickles, for topping

Optional: hot sauce for a kick

Instructions

Prepare the Patties: In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined, then divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties that are slightly larger than your buns. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.

Cook the Patties: Preheat your grill or a heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the burgers and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until they reach your desired doneness. For medium, aim for an internal temperature of 160°F.

Melt the Cheese: In the last minute of cooking, add a generous dollop of pimento cheese on top of each patty and cover with a lid to help the cheese melt.

Prepare the Buns: While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a separate skillet until golden brown.

Assemble the Burgers: Start with the bottom bun, add a lettuce leaf, then place the cheesy patty on top. Layer with a slice of tomato and pickles, and add any additional toppings or hot sauce to taste. Finish with the top bun.

Serve: Plate the burgers with a side of crispy fries or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
