Ingredients
  

  • 4 large russet potatoes peeled and sliced thinly
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter for greasing
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter.
  • In a saucepan, combine heavy cream, whole milk, minced garlic, thyme, salt, pepper, and nutmeg; heat until simmering.
  • Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish and pour half of the cream mixture over them.
  • Sprinkle half of the cheddar and Parmesan cheeses on top.
  • Repeat with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheeses.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  • Let the dish rest for 10 minutes before serving.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
