Ingredients

2 large onions, thinly sliced

3 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup sour cream

1 cup cream cheese, softened

1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves (or 1 teaspoon dried thyme)

1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives (for garnish)

Instructions

Caramelize the Onions: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions, salt, and black pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 20-25 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown and caramelized. Lower the heat if they start to burn. Remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes.

Prepare the Dip Base: In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese and sour cream until smooth. You can use a hand mixer for a creamier texture.

Add Cheeses and Seasonings: Stir in the sharp cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, and thyme until well combined. Then, gently fold in the caramelized onions.

Bake the Dip: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the mixture to a baking dish or a cast-iron skillet. Spread it out evenly and smooth the top.

Cook Until Golden: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the dip is hot and bubbly with a slightly golden top.

Serve & Garnish: Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped chives before serving.

Enjoy: Serve warm with tortilla chips, pita bread, or fresh vegetable sticks.
