Ingredients

Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup whole milk, warmed (110°F)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

Filling:

2 medium apples, peeled and diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

Cream Cheese Frosting:

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 tablespoons milk (adjust for desired consistency)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the warmed milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until bubbly.

Mix Ingredients: Add the melted butter, eggs, and salt to the yeast mixture. Gradually add flour while mixing until a sticky dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Prepare the Filling: In a small bowl, mix the diced apples with brown sugar and cinnamon.

Roll Out the Dough: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and Roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.

Add Filling: Spread the softened butter across the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Evenly sprinkle the apple mixture over the butter layer.

Roll and Cut: Starting from one edge, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Cut into 12 equal rolls.

Second Rise: Place the rolls into a greased baking dish. Cover and let them rise again for about 30 minutes until puffed.

Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.

Make Frosting: While the rolls bake, beat together cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until creamy.

Frost the Rolls: Once the rolls are out of the oven, let them cool for about 10 minutes. Generously spread the cream cheese frosting over the warm rolls.

Enjoy warm and indulge in the delightful flavors!
