Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef or ground sausage
  • 1 medium onion finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • to taste salt and black pepper
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 package cocktail rye bread or pumpernickel bread
  • to taste fresh parsley finely chopped

Instructions

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef or sausage, cooking until browned.
  • Add the finely diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 5 minutes until soft.
  • Stir in Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper, cooking for an additional 2 minutes.
  • Lower the heat and add the softened cream cheese, stirring until fully melted and blended.
  • Remove from heat and fold in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and incorporated.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the slices of bread on it.
  • Spoon the meat and cheese mixture onto each slice of bread, covering well.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 15 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
  • Allow to cool slightly and sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving.
