Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion
  • 4 slices rye bread
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • ΒΌ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  • Make the Special Sauce by blending mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  • Caramelize the onions by cooking them in butter with salt over medium heat for 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
  • Season the ground beef with salt and pepper, divide into two portions, and shape into patties slightly larger than the bread.
  • Cook the patties in the skillet with butter over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes on each side, adding cheese in the last minute.
  • Spread the special sauce on one side of each rye bread slice, layer with caramelized onions and cheesy patties, then top with another slice.
  • Grill the sandwiches in the skillet over medium-low heat for 3-4 minutes on each side until the bread is golden and crispy.
