  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • a pinch salt

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, beat softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add molasses, egg, and vanilla to the butter mixture and beat until smooth.
  • Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  • Drop rounded balls of dough onto baking sheets, spaced 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are set but centers are soft.
  • Cool cookies on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
  • In a clean bowl, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth, then mix in powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt.
  • Frost cooled cookies and allow frosting to set before serving.
